Whilst performing clean installaions and upgrades of vCenter Server 5, I have come across the following warning message on a number of occasions.

 

"The Fully Qualified Domain Name cannot be resolved. If you continue the installation, some features might not work correctly."

Teradici have released a PCoIP server offload card called the APEX 2800. This server based PCI express card offloads the PCoIP image encoding tasks which thus reduces server CPU utilization.

This can create a headroom for existing virtual desktops, increase the number of desktops per server for VMware View deployments and may also improve the user experience.

When you created your virtual machine you of course created the number of disks and their sizes as per the requirements, best practice guidelines or just your best estimation for its use. However, as requirements change and the amount of data in your virtual machine grows, from time to time you need add additional storage. How do you resize the virtual disk (.VMDK)?

 

The vSphere Web Client (Server) is provided in the download media along with vCenter.

It provides most functionality used day-to-day such as creating a VM, powering on, configuring VMs, consoles to more advanced fucntionality like memory reservations.

I have recently found there is an issue with the latest version of the Teradici PCoIP Zero Client firmware 3.5.0 and View 5.0 during a deployment. This affected all users connecting from zero clients both the Wyse P20 and the Dell FX100 (in theory also any other PCoIP zero clients), causing a black screen when logging onto a View desktop followed by being returned to the View Client login screen.
