If like me you hate the fact this stupid Welcome Screen appears when you logon to a XenDesktop virtual desktop, then don't fear we can make it disappear!
It's part of the Virtual Desktop Agent (VDA), so installing an update to this may also make it come back - great!
I asked my Citrix partner contact if they would accept a feature request, to make tick box option in the VDA install so we don't have to do this. Answer = no from the product manager :-(
Below is the culprit in question, the VDA welcome screen that a new user connecting to a XenDesktop gets. A great first time user experience that will make them go WTF is this! Followed by I got less pop ups on my old machine, I want to go back to it.
To remove this do the following:
1. Delete the VDA Welcome Screen shortcut in:
Windows XP
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start menu\Programs\Startup
Windows Vista/7
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
2. Create the following registry key:
Under HKLM\Software\Policies\Citrix\WelcomeScreen
Create key "DisableSplashScreen" (string)
Value "true"
Et voila!
